Is it permissible to kill a dog or poison it if it causes harm to neighbors due to its barking and insects?

Scholars have differed on the ruling concerning keeping a dog for guarding homes. Some have permitted it by analogy with the three types of dogs mentioned in the Hadith, while others have prohibited it. As for killing a dog owned by its master, it is not permissible if keeping it was permissible, because it is a beneficial asset. To mitigate the harm caused by the dog, one should either communicate with its owner or escalate the matter to the relevant authorities.
