Were there humans on Earth before Adam (peace be upon him) descended?

There was no human being on Earth before our master Adam, peace be upon him, for he is the father of humanity. This is supported by the Almighty's saying: "Indeed, I will make upon the earth a [human] successor," and His saying: "Indeed, I am going to create a human being out of clay," and the one created was Adam. There is no validity to what has been written about the existence of humans before Adam, due to the weakness of its evidence and its contradiction with the Quran and Sunnah. In Sahih al-Bukhari, it is narrated that on the Day of Resurrection, the creatures will come to Adam and say to him: "O Adam, you are the father of humanity."
