Did the woman err in her action when she waited once after seeing dryness from menstruation, and another time she did not wait, knowing that she does not know her habit in menstruation and saw different discharges after dryness?
A woman's regular period refers to the days when she typically experiences menstruation, and its duration varies among women. A woman recognizes purity (ṭuhr) by complete dryness (inserting a cotton swab and it comes out clean) or by the white discharge (a white watery discharge resembling plaster). Yellowish or brownish discharges (ṣufrah and kudrah) are considered menstruation if they are connected to blood or occur during the days of menstruation, based on the saying of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): "Wait, do not rush until you see the white discharge." If the bleeding stops and complete dryness occurs, the woman becomes pure, and the discharge of secretions after purification does not matter, based on the saying of Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her): "We did not consider the brownish and yellowish discharges after purity to be anything."
