Sirin, the mother of Abd al-Rahman ibn Hassan ibn Thabit, was the sister of Maria, the mother of Ibrahim, the son of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Both were the daughters of Sham'un, and it is also said that her name was Shireen.

She was a female Companion, gifted by Al-Muqawqis, the ruler of Alexandria, to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet then bestowed her upon Hassan ibn Thabit.

She narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Among what she narrated from him is that when Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), was near death, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade her and her sister from wailing. Then, on that day, the sun was eclipsed. The people said, "It was eclipsed for the death of Ibrahim." Thereupon, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not eclipsed for the death of anyone, nor for his life."

No mention has been made of a person named Sirin bint Abdullah ibn Mas'ud.
