Is the second marriage, which was conducted with a forged certificate of singleness, Islamically valid, and does the second wife's family bear a sin for encouraging this marriage despite their knowledge of the forgery?

We regret the state of affairs in countries that claim to be Islamic yet fight Islam, restricting Muslims in their religious practices. Some of these countries prohibit polygyny or impose impossible conditions for it. Such void laws, which combat Allah's Shari'ah, permit a Muslim to circumvent and evade them, such as by forging documents to complete the marriage contract. There is also no blame on the family of the second wife who were aware of this forged document and allowed the marriage.

A father should not force his son to marry a woman he does not desire, nor should the son obey him in such a case; this is because it may lead to injustice towards the wife and the failure of the marriage. If the wife wishes to remain married to him, with him providing for her and caring for her child without cohabitation, she is permitted to accept this; this is based on the Almighty's saying: (And if a woman fears from her husband desertion or evasion).

If the spouses had an illicit relationship (fornication) before marriage, their marriage is not valid until they repent.
