What is the ruling on slaughtering a pregnant female animal unknowingly, on dealing harshly with a sick animal for treatment, and on unintentionally infecting an animal with another disease during its treatment? Is there any sin incurred by that, and what are the Islamic legal rulings and the conduct of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, regarding such matters?

There is no objection to treating a sick animal, provided that the treating person does not exceed the limits required for the treatment, thereby torturing it unnecessarily. The basic principle is the prohibition of torturing animals. However, necessities permit the forbidden, and are estimated according to their measure. A skilled and experienced therapist is not held accountable for damage resulting from their work if it was unintentional or due to their ignorance of their profession.
