What is the ruling on saying "Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammad" (O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad) when one forgets a word during a conversation in order to remember it?

Some scholars have mentioned that one of the instances for sending blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is when one forgets something. However, a very weak hadith has been narrated regarding this.
