Is prolonging prostration in prayer and increasing supplication therein considered a transgression in supplication?
Prostration in prayer is one of the positions where supplications are answered. Prolonging prostration and increasing supplications therein is not considered an transgression. The Prophet commanded to strive in making supplications during prostration. Transgression in supplication involves asking for the impossible or for sin, raising one's voice excessively, or asking for the status of prophets. As for the Imam, he should not prolong prostration and supplication to ease the burden on the congregants. However, if he prays alone, he may prolong as much as he wishes in the pillars that allow for prolongation.
