The mother has the primary right to custody of her young child after divorce, unless she remarries. If she remarries, her right is forfeited, and custody transfers to the maternal grandmother, then the paternal grandmother. The child's welfare is taken into consideration when arranging custody. If the custodian does not safeguard the child's welfare or corrupts the child, their right to custody is forfeited.
