What is the ruling on the prayer of one who removed clothes with dry impurity on them, then prayed?
It is permissible to wear a garment soiled with a dry impurity outside of prayer. The prayer is valid if one prays with other clean clothes after removing the soiled garments, and provided that none of the impurity remains on the body. However, if one prays with exposed awrah (private parts), the prayer is invalid, unless one cannot find anything to cover the awrah except the impure garment and cannot find anything to purify it with. In this case, the prayer is valid according to many jurists. Jurists have differed on this issue: the Shafi'is believe in praying unclothed, while the Malikis and Hanbalis believe in praying with the impure garment, with a difference regarding repeating the prayer. The Hanafis believe in giving a choice between the two options, with praying in the impure garment being preferable.
