Has Allah's wrath descended upon me due to committing zina (fornication/adultery) despite my prayers and Umrah, given my weak feeling of guilt, and what should I do to distance myself from this sin?
Adultery is one of the gravest sins, but Allah accepts repentance and replaces evil deeds with good ones. The conditions for repentance are: abandoning the sin, regretting it, and resolving not to return to it, while concealing oneself and not publicizing it. Remorse is the greatest pillar of repentance, stemming from magnifying the transgression by magnifying the command, the Commander, and believing in the recompense. From the sincerity of repentance is avoiding the causes of disobedience, cutting off forbidden means of communication, and staying away from causes of temptation such as seclusion and mixing, along with guarding against the despair induced by Satan, learning matters of religion, and strengthening one's connection with Allah.
