Do Islamic conquests mean the Muslim occupation of other lands and the spread of Islam by the sword?

The Islamic conquests included those that were by force after inviting the rulers of the lands to embrace Islam or pay jizya. Those who refused were fought by the Muslims. And there were also conquests where people voluntarily embraced Islam without fighting. Muslims did not spread Islam by the sword, because compulsion in religion is not permissible, as stated in the Almighty's words: "There is no compulsion in religion" and "So whoever wills - let him believe; and whoever wills - let him disbelieve." The idea of spreading Islam by the sword is one of the slanders fabricated by the enemies of Islam to disparage it and justify the occupation of Muslim lands.
