What is the ruling on writing fictional stories to entertain readers, while assuring them that they are not real or that they are dreams?

A Muslim should safeguard his time, for he will be held accountable for it before Allah. Stories that have no basis in reality have been considered by some scholars to be lies, and the path of piety is to abandon them. As for presenting a story as a dream, while it is a lie, its perpetrator is threatened with severe punishment. So, to say, "I saw in a dream," and then claim that the matter is not real, is a lie in itself. Therefore, fear Allah, safeguard your time, and suffice yourselves with presenting stories of the Prophets, the Companions, and the righteous, as well as beneficial real-life stories.
