What is your opinion on someone who permits seeking intercession through the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, after his death, citing the action of a Companion who sought intercession at his grave? Is this permissible?

The eminent scholar Al-Albani responded to the aforementioned narration with several points, among them: not accepting the authenticity of the story due to the unknown identity of Malik Ad-Dar and the lack of established uprightness and precision in his narration. As for what was said about its chain of transmission being authentic, its authenticity extends only to Abu Salih As-Samman. Among his responses was also: that the story contradicts what is established in Islamic law regarding the recommendation of Salatul Istisqa (prayer for rain), and what Umar ibn Al-Khattab did by seeking rain through Al-Abbas, and it has not been reported that any of the Salaf (pious predecessors) resorted to the grave of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and asked him for supplication. Among his responses also was: that the narration is not about seeking intercession through the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, but rather it involves asking him for supplication; and this is something no one from the Salaf ever said was permissible.
