What is the ruling on a financially capable father who possesses enough wealth to marry off his children, but refuses to do so until they reach the age of thirty, and prioritizes his personal furnishings over equipping his children's apartments?

A father is not obligated to spend on his children or marry them off if they are not in need of financial support, even if they are capable of earning. However, if they are in need, some scholars have held that it is obligatory for a father to marry them off if he is able, and this is the view of Ibn Qudamah.

Regardless of the obligation, a well-off father should assist his children with marriage. In all cases, children must honor and treat their father well, and it is not permissible to displease him. The father's right is immense, and the Lord's pleasure is in the father's pleasure, and His displeasure is in the father's displeasure. The father is the middle gate of Paradise.
