Which of the jurisprudential schools of thought is most adherent to evidence?

The fatwas of the imams of Islam, such as the four and others, were based on seeking out evidence. If preferring one madhhab over another leads to disparaging the less preferred one, then it is impermissible. Scholars have differed on the permissibility of preferring one of the followed madhhabs over another. The dispute is ultimately semantic, as those who deny the permissibility of preferring one madhhab over another mean not preferring an entire madhhab over another entire madhhab, while those who affirm it do so based on specific issues. The three madhhabs (Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanbali) are closer to the narrations (athar) than the madhhab of Ahl al-Ra'y (people of opinion). Each madhhab may be preferred based on its own specific preponderant factors. The matter is relative, and a student of knowledge should master one of the madhhabs, and then they will be able to distinguish the stronger opinion from the weaker one.
