How can we help a brother who is suspected of being afflicted by sorcery, yet he refuses Islamic ruqyah, is far from committed to prayer, and all attempts at advice have proven futile?

Legal Ruqyah is prescribed for both the afflicted and others. Legal Ruqyah can be recited over a bewitched patient without their knowledge, as devils fear the recitation of the Quran. However, delaying prayer and sometimes abandoning it is a serious matter, and many Quranic verses and prophetic traditions have warned against it. Among them is the Almighty's saying: "There succeeded them a posterity who neglected prayers and pursued passions; so they are bound to meet perdition" (Surat Maryam, 59). And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever misses the 'Asr prayer, his deeds have been rendered vain." The first thing a servant will be held accountable for is prayer.
