If the woman is menstruating, her ' (waiting period) is three menstrual cycles after the cessation of post-natal bleeding, based on the Almighty's saying: "Divorced women remain in waiting for three periods." However, if she does not menstruate due to illness, her 'iddah is three months, based on the Almighty's saying: "And those women who have passed the age of menstruation among your women - if you should doubt, then their waiting period is three months, and also those who have not menstruated."
