Is greeting one's paternal uncle in the mosque considered an act of maintaining kinship ties?

Greeting (Salaam) is a form of maintaining kinship ties (Silat ar-Rahim), but one should not limit it to only greeting one's paternal uncle, because he is among the kin whose ties must be maintained. Therefore, you are obligated to maintain ties with him in a manner that is customarily considered 'maintaining ties', to the best of your ability, such as visiting him and assisting him financially if he is in need. Maintaining ties has various degrees; the lowest is abandoning estrangement and maintaining ties through speech, even if it's just with a greeting. This varies according to one's ability and need, so some forms are obligatory and some are recommended. One who performs some form of maintaining ties is not considered a severer of ties. However, one who falls short of what they are capable of doing is not considered a maintainer of ties. It is obligatory upon a person to maintain kinship ties according to what is customarily required, because it is among the best deeds that draw one closer to Allah, and Allah has pledged to connect with whoever connects with their kin, and to cut off whoever cuts off their kin.
