Is it a condition to observe sequence when making up days missed in previous Ramadans by an elderly person due to masturbation out of ignorance of the ruling, in addition to days whose fasting is doubted from the Ramadan of their puberty year? Is continuity required in making up these days? And is the intention of "making up a day from what is owed from previous Ramadans" sufficient, given their ignorance of the number of days and their inability to recall what they have already made up?

Scholars have differed regarding making up for missed fasts by someone who broke their fast out of ignorance of the ruling. The more cautious approach is to make it up, to avoid disagreement. However, the more apparent view is that making it up is not obligatory, based on the Almighty's saying: "And We were not to punish until We had sent a messenger."

Whoever breaks their fast in Ramadan out of ignorance incurs no penalty, because a fasting person does not break their fast except with three conditions: knowledge, remembrance, and intention.

It is obligatory to make up for fasts that one is uncertain about, until one's conscience is cleared. For the intention of making up a fast, it is sufficient to intend in one's heart that one will fast tomorrow to make up for the fasts owed.

A man must calculate the number of days he is required to make up, and what he has fasted with the intention of making up is valid and sufficient. Making up is immediately obligatory for one who intentionally broke their fast, and they are not permitted to delay it.

If a man is ignorant of the number of days he owes, he should make up what gives him certainty or a strong presumption of clearing his conscience. He also owes a fidyah (expiatory feeding) of a poor person for each day he delayed making up, despite being able to do so, until the following Ramadan passed, unless he was ignorant of the impermissibility of the delay.
