What is incumbent upon one who aided in aborting a fetus—whose age was likely between two and four months—and what is incumbent upon one who transported her, knowing that she was ignorant of the prohibition at the time, and now feels guilty and is in hardship?

You erred in your action, especially after your insistence and knowledge of your friend's advice. What is obligatory upon you is to repent to Allah by feeling remorse and resolving not to repeat the act. The door of repentance is open as long as the soul is in the body and has not reached the gurgling [of death]. Allah accepts the repentance of His servant as long as he has not gurgled. No blood money (diyya) or expiation (kaffara) is incumbent upon you. Rather, it is incumbent upon the woman who drank the medicine, because she was the direct cause of the killing. If the fetus had not yet developed human characteristics, then no blood money or expiation is entailed by its abortion, even though its abortion is forbidden.
