What is the status of a female questioner’s fasting in previous Ramadans during which she was negligent in prayer or delayed its performance? Does she have to make up those fasts due to the nullification of deeds, or are her repentance and making up the prayers sufficient? Is her fasting valid on the days when she did not pray, or must she make it up? What is the ruling on her fasting on days when she masturbated at night or during the day? Does she have to make up those fasts and offer expiation? Is her mother sinful for not compelling her to pray, knowing of her negligence?

Praise be to Allah who has guided you and accepted your repentance.

Neglecting prayer due to laziness does not constitute disbelief according to the majority of scholars, and your acceptance of Islam and your fasting in the Ramadans during which you neglected prayer are valid. One who repents from a sin is like one who has no sin. Since you have repented to Allah, repentance erases your misdeeds. And making up what you missed is obligatory along with repentance.

Your fasting is valid on the days when you masturbated at night, whether semen was discharged or not, and whether you performed ghusl or not. Your fasting is valid on the days when madhy (pre-seminal fluid) was discharged during the day, as its discharge does not invalidate the fast.

If you masturbated during the daytime in Ramadan and semen was discharged, while knowing its prohibition, then you must make up those days. However, if you were ignorant of the prohibition, then there is no make-up upon you.

If your mother commanded you to pray and you lied to her, she bears no sin. Continue to be steadfast, associate with righteous women, increase in remembrance of Allah and supplication, and strive to seek religious knowledge.
