You must fulfill your vow completely and in the best possible way, for a vow is a grave matter. Allah has commanded excellence in all things and praised His righteous servants for fulfilling their vows. Therefore, you must slaughter a sheep as you vowed, and a kid (young goat) will not suffice, because it is not commonly or legally called a sheep, and the sheep must be sufficient for sacrifice.
