Does a liar bear the sin of all listeners to his lie, whether it is an ordinary lie or an unbelievable joke, knowing that lying in jokes is forbidden?

Lying is forbidden, whether in jest or otherwise. Its sin may increase with the number of people affected by it, due to the spread of the lie that results from it. This is supported by the hadith of Samurah in Sahih Al-Bukhari concerning the liar whose cheek is torn and who is tormented until the Day of Resurrection. The liar must repent to Allah and return the right to its rightful owner if their lie resulted in taking someone else's right.
