Is sitting with those who ridicule Allah's verses, or not turning off the device when such ridicule occurs on television, even with an internal and verbal rejection, considered an act of disbelief (kufr) or apostasy (riddah), based on His Almighty's saying: "And He has already revealed to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah being denied and ridiculed, then do not sit with them until they engage in another conversation. Indeed, you would then be like them"?

When one witnesses mockery of religion, it is obligatory to denounce it verbally. If verbal denouncement is not effective, then it is obligatory to leave the gathering, based on the words of Allah Almighty: "And He has already revealed to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah being disbelieved in and ridiculed, do not sit with them until they engage in another conversation." And sitting with them without denouncing or leaving is a sin, not disbelief. And His saying, Exalted is He: "Indeed, you would then be like them," is for emphasis and warning. The similitude is in sin, not in disbelief.
