If the washing is done by placing clothes in a small amount of water (less than two qullas), and this water becomes impure upon contact with the impurity, then the clothes are not purified. However, if the washing machine removes the impurity and then water flows over the clothes, or if each garment is washed separately with water, then the clothes become pure. As for the second question, the default ruling for the aforementioned anesthetic is purity, unless one is certain that it contains an impure substance such as alcohol.
