How can a teacher instill the Islamic spirit and make the stories of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his companions role models for elementary school students?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The teacher plays a great role and holds a high status, for they carry the message of the prophets in teaching people goodness, as Almighty Allah says: {Allah has certainly conferred a great favour on the believers when He sent among them a Messenger from among themselves, reciting to them His verses, and purifying them, and teaching them the Book and wisdom, although before that they were in manifest error} [Al 'Imran: 164]. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, I was sent as a teacher," and "Indeed, Allah, His angels, and the inhabitants of the heavens and earth, even the ant in its hole and the fish, pray for the one who teaches people good."

The teacher must sense the enormity of the trust placed upon them in shaping the minds of students and rectifying their deviations, for they are capable of instilling virtues or vices. Among what aids the teacher in their mission are: sincerity of intention, frequent supplication, continuous reading, good preparation and quality delivery, being a good role model, communicating with parents, wisdom in interaction, and connecting students with the good example of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and his companions.
