Is the recitation of the Qur’an mentioned in the Hadith: “It will be said to the reciter of the Qur’an: ‘Recite, and ascend, and recite distinctly as you used to recite distinctly in the world, for your station is at the last verse you recite,’” from memory or from the Mus'haf?

The hadith narrated by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and Tirmidhi from Abdullah ibn Amr states that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It will be said to the reciter of the Qur’an: 'Recite, and ascend, and recite distinctly as you used to recite distinctly in the worldly life, for your status is at the last verse you recite.'" The reciter of the Qur’an here refers to one who recited it and acted upon its rulings in the worldly life. Their reward is that their status in Paradise will be at the last verse they recite. The degrees of Paradise are according to the number of verses in the Qur’an, so whoever enters Paradise from the people of the Qur’an will have no degree above them. The hadith does not explicitly state how the recitation will be performed on the Day of Resurrection, whether it will be from memory or from a mushaf.
