How is the belief of the Salaf positioned between the belief of the Qadariyyah and the belief of the Jabriyyah?
The madhhab of the Salaf is that the servant has power and will, by which he acts under the power and will of Allah. So, he has power and acts, but he does not will or act except with the permission of Allah. This is indicated by the saying of Allah the Almighty: "No disaster strikes except by permission of Allah," and His saying: "For whoever wills among you to take a straight path. And you do not will except that Allah wills." And the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "And know that if the entire nation were to gather to benefit you with something, they would not benefit you except with something Allah has already written for you. And if they were to gather to harm you with something, they would not harm you except with something Allah has already written against you. The pens have been lifted, and the scrolls have dried."
