Is it permissible to sit or walk in a path where many transgressors gather?

If the road is not designated for something forbidden, then the basic rule is the permissibility of using it for passing and sitting, provided one lowers their gaze and safeguards themselves from forbidden things. However, refraining from sitting in the road is more virtuous as an act of piety. Otherwise, one must exert effort in calling to Allah, enjoining good, and forbidding evil, based on the hadith: "Beware of sitting in the roadways… So give the road its due: lowering the gaze, refraining from causing harm, returning greetings, enjoining good, and forbidding evil."
