Is television directing permissible or forbidden, taking into consideration lowering the gaze, the need for money for one's family, and the unavailability of other work?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is permissible to work in the art of television directing if it is used in a way that pleases Allah and benefits Muslims, provided it is free from religious prohibitions such as immodest display (tabarruj), intermingling (ikhtilat), musical instruments (ma'azif), and anything that involves intellectual invasion or moral corruption, as Allah Almighty says: "And do not cooperate in sin and aggression." The absence of another job is not an excuse to remain in a forbidden occupation. A Muslim must strive for lawful earnings, for Allah facilitates the means of livelihood, and whoever fears Allah, He will provide for him and suffice him. And whoever leaves something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better, for Allah does not bless the forbidden.
