Rather, this is permissible if the intention behind it is sound and not merely boastfulness. Imam Al-Nawawi stated that praising oneself is blameworthy if it is for boasting, but beloved if it contains a religious benefit, such as enjoining good, giving advice, or repelling evil, with the aim that one's words will be accepted. Similarly, it is mentioned in the Fiqh Encyclopedia that a person's self-praise is permissible out of necessity, such as a suitor who wishes to gain acceptance from a family for marriage.
