The exegetes differed regarding the meaning of "he who had knowledge from the Scripture" in the verse: (He who had knowledge from the Scripture said, "I will bring it to you before your glance returns to you"); most of them held that he was Asaf ibn Barkhiya, a righteous man from the Children of Israel. The majority of exegetes agreed that the knowledge God bestowed upon him was the Greatest Name of God, by which if He is asked, He gives, and if He is invoked, He responds. This was an honor from God to His allies, and he was a divine servant possessing knowledge and wisdom.
