What is the ruling on abortion after two months of pregnancy, given the presence of a nursing child, and is expiation obligatory for intentional abortion about which the husband was not informed?

The gist of the fatwa: There is a difference of opinion regarding abortion before the ensoulment. The Shafi'i madhhab holds that expiation (kaffarah) is obligatory for the perpetrator in the case of a guaranteed fetus for which blood money (diyyah) is due. As for a non-guaranteed fetus—which is one aborted before ensoulment—there is no expiation for it. Ensoulment does not occur until after four months, by consensus.
