Is it permissible to imagine the greatness of Allah and the weakness of humankind while reciting the Quran and performing adhkar—such as Surat Al-Ikhlas, Ayat Al-Kursi, and Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Nas—in order to aid in developing khushu' (devotional humility) and understanding the verses and adhkar?

Contemplating the names and attributes of the Lord, understanding His power and human weakness, His richness and human poverty, increases faith and brings about the love of Allah the Almighty. Therefore, studying and knowing the names and attributes of Allah, and allowing the heart to delve into the gardens of this knowledge, are among the greatest causes for loving Him. Among the most beneficial types of contemplation is reflecting upon the names and attributes of the Lord, which is part of the commanded contemplation of the Quran. For the Quran is replete with the ذكر (mention) of the Lord's names and attributes, so reflecting upon that and engaging one's thoughts in it increases faith and brings about the love of the Most Merciful.
