Is the chain of transmission for the Hadith narrated on the authority of Mu'awiyah, as reported by Al-Baladhuri, which states, "A man will emerge before you from this mountain pass who will die not on my religion," and it then becomes clear that it is Mu'awiyah, authentic?

The aforementioned hadith narrated by Al-Baladhuri concerning the emergence of a man who dies not upon the religion of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and who is then identified as Mu'awiyah, is a weak hadith. Its weakness is attributed to the presence of Abd al-Razzaq al-San'ani in its chain of narration. Although he was trustworthy, he made errors after he became blind, in what he narrated from memory, and in hadiths concerning virtues and faults, as he was accused of Shi'ism. Furthermore, he did not include it in his Musannaf, and its chain of narration (sanad) and text (matn) are contradictory. In Al-Baladhuri's narration, it states that he is a man from the people of Hellfire and that the one who emerges is Mu'awiyah, whereas in other narrations, it mentions Al-Hakam ibn Abi al-'As, and in another narration, the one who emerges is not specified. This contradiction in the sanad and matn prevents reliance on it to disparage the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
