How sound is the statement: "O Allah, I do not ask You to avert the decree, but I ask You for Your gentleness with me"?

One should not say: "Allah has decreed, and what He wills, He does," because it has been legislated for us to ask Allah to avert a decree if it contains evil. For this reason, Imam Al-Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him, titled a chapter in his Sahih: "Chapter: Whoever seeks refuge with Allah from the depths of misery and evil destiny," based on the words of Allah the Almighty: (Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak, From the evil of what He has created") Al-Falaq/1-2, and the words of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: (Seek refuge with Allah from the severity of trials, the depths of misery, and evil destiny) Bukhari 7/215.
