The one who is asked [to sell] is in the position of an agent, and he is obligated to adhere to the instructions of his principal, by the consensus of jurists. If the shop owner permits the one who is asked [to sell] to sell on credit to those whom he trusts, then there is no harm for the one who is asked [to sell] in selling to them on credit. In this case, he must inform the shop owner of the situation so that the latter can collect his debt. However, if those individuals are not trustworthy, or if the one who is asked [to sell] falls short in ascertaining their situation, then he is liable for the price owed to the shop owner by them.
