What is the ruling on supplicating with the words: "My God, by Your love for me, forgive me," and is it permissible to assert Allah's love and supplicate thereby?

Allah's love for His servant is known by signs, one of which is success in obedience. However, it cannot be asserted definitively except with a legal text, for asserting Allah's love is like asserting entry into Paradise, which is not permissible except through revelation; otherwise, it would be a whisper from Satan. The Companions used to fear hypocrisy for themselves. It is necessary to combine good expectation of Allah with fear of Him, for fear and hope are intertwined, as anyone who hopes for something beloved must fear losing it, and both relate to what is uncertain.
