The answer

At the first drop of his blood, the martyr is forgiven for every sin, sees his seat in Paradise, is married to the houris, is secured from the Great Terror and the torment of the grave, and is adorned with the ornament of faith. And whoever sincerely asks Allah for martyrdom, Allah will grant him the stations of the martyrs, even if he dies in his bed. Some narrations may indicate that a believer, through performing righteous deeds and abandoning forbidden acts, can also be a martyr.
