Must a woman choose between forming a family and actively participating in society and serving her religion and homeland, especially if her husband rejects her work due to mixing with men?

A woman should choose a husband who is religious and of good character, and accept a suitor who is protective of his family and does not condone unlawful mixing (ikhtilat). It is not permissible for a woman to work in a mixed environment except out of necessity. The most important role for a Muslim woman is to build a righteous family and raise children. It is advisable to accept the aforementioned man if he is religious and of good character, and to seek work that does not involve unlawful mixing, or to work from home if possible.
