Thus, it is not permissible for a woman to travel without the company of a mahram unless there is a necessity or a severe need that permits it. She must be patient until a mahram is available to accompany her. If that becomes possible for her, there is no harm in her staying in a safe place without a mahram, for the mahram is required for travel, not for residence in a safe country. Neither work nor marriage is considered a sufficient excuse for her to travel without a mahram.
