The answer

Attending the Friday sermon and listening to it are obligatory. However, if a worshiper cannot find a place where they can hear the sermon due to overcrowding, it is permissible for them to sit anywhere possible, and there is no sin upon them for that; this is based on the Almighty's saying: "So fear Allah as much as you are able," and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "And when I command you to do something, do of it as much as you are able."
