What is the ruling on working in a pharmacy where most of the patrons do not adhere to the Shar'i dress code, and what results from that in terms of seeing sights that necessitate lowering one's gaze? And what is the ruling on kindness and smiling when dealing with women? And what is the ruling on thinking about the unlawful and touching one's private parts without ejaculation; and is the doer sinful?

We ask Allah to grant you guidance and chastity, and we advise you to fear Allah and to strive against yourself to lower your gaze from what is forbidden, for letting the gaze wander has dire consequences and fuels the fire of lust. Seek employment in a place further removed from the temptations of women, and make supererogatory acts of worship, especially fasting, a fence that protects you from falling into what displeases Allah. Supplicate earnestly to Allah to make you chaste and to safeguard your private parts. Your duty in dealing with women is that your speech should be within the bounds of modesty and seriousness, while avoiding anything that incites temptation. Shun being elaborate or soft in speech with them. Imagining obscenity and fondling your private parts for pleasure is not permissible. These matters inflame the fire of lust and do not extinguish it, so you must stop them and repent to Allah Almighty.
