How sound is the hadith of Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was weeping while leaning against the wall of the Kaaba, and attributed the reason for his weeping to the obliteration of his nation?

No origin for this hadith has been found in the books of Sunnah, and it has been mentioned that it bears signs of fabrication, and that some of its wordings resemble fabricated narrations, apart from a few supporting evidences such as the punishment for withholding zakat.
