Is the expression "Make God the compass of your life" valid?

It is better to avoid the phrase "divine compass," as it might give the impression of likening Allah to it. Although describing Allah is not necessarily restricted to specific texts, good manners dictate carefulness and refraining from using phrases that might imply imperfection concerning Him. The Shariah-approved phrases are sufficient and render such expressions unnecessary, even if the intended meaning is correct.
