Is the girl's guardian justified in stipulating the presence of at least two women from the suitor's family for the wedding, or is the suitor justified in refusing this on the grounds of his family's indifference towards him and his living conditions?

A marriage contract is valid if concluded by a sane man alone. However, it is customary for the bride's guardian to ask the suitor to bring his relatives, in order to be reassured of his seriousness and to ensure that he has family and kin to whom they can refer in case of dispute or from whom they can seek respect. The original ruling for such customs is permissibility, especially if their benefit is apparent, as they fall under customs for which the original ruling is leniency, and nothing is forbidden from them except what the Sharia (definition) has prohibited. The presence of the suitor's relatives proves his seriousness and allows for recourse to them in case of future disagreements, just as their absence raises doubts about his suitability and character. Therefore, it is advisable to agree to the guardian's condition.
