What is the ruling on a husband preventing his wife from visiting her immoral brother, whose reputation is tarnished, out of fear for his children from being influenced by him, and what should he do if the wife disobeys his command?

The man who does not pray, thinks ill of people, and seeks to tarnish their reputation, should be advised by clarifying the danger of abandoning prayer, and that the fundamental principle is to have a good opinion of Muslims. If he does not desist, he should be shunned if it is highly probable that shunning will benefit him. It is permissible for the husband to prevent his wife and children from visiting the wife's brother, or for him to visit his own sister and her children, if the husband fears harm to them from him. The wife must obey her husband in not visiting her brother; otherwise, she would be disobedient (nashiz).
