ما هي الإلهيات؟

"Ilahiyyat" (Divinity) refers to discussions within Islamic theology concerning the essence and attributes of Allah. Some theologians divide theological discussions into Ilahiyyat (Divinity), Nubuwwat (Prophethoods), and Sam'iyyat (matters heard from revelation). However, it is more appropriate to divide them according to the Hadith of Gabriel: belief in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and divine preordainment (Qadar). Belief in Allah includes the three types of Tawhid (Oneness of God): Tawhid al-Uluhiyyah (Oneness of Worship), Tawhid ar-Rububiyyah (Oneness of Lordship), and Tawhid al-Asma wa as-Sifat (Oneness of Names and Attributes). Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah (the People of the Sunnah and the Community) affirm for Allah whatever He has affirmed for Himself and His Messenger, without Taa'wil (figurative interpretation), Ta'teel (negation of attributes), or Tashbeeh (likening Him to creation).
