Seeing the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in a dream with his established characteristics is a true vision, for Satan cannot assume his form. The reasons for this vision depend on obedience to Allah and adherence to the Sunnah of His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him. The more a person's piety and adherence to the Sunnah increase, the greater the likelihood of seeing the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Nevertheless, not seeing him does not mean a person is not righteous, and seeing him does not necessarily stem from extreme piety; rather, it is a divine bestowal and grace from Allah, which He grants to whomever He wills.
